Last month our project was to help Emmett Strong. At four months old, he was diagnosed with a rare brain malformation called Chiari and Hydrocephalus.  Their journey has been tough and filled with many obstacles.  You can read more about that here.

We are honored to have had a small part in helping the Strong family get through this time.

Here’s  a recent image of Emmett!  He’s so much happier now!

Emmett after his surgery

We received this email from the Strong family and wanted to share it with you.

I would like to take a minute and truly thank you for the amazing contribution Gethrr made. A month ago we walked into a situation and had no idea what we were up against. It is the beautiful hearts of strangers which has helped us through this. Through prayer, donation, and heartfelt comment we have felt how each person shows that there is good in this world. It is amazing to see the generosity of complete strangers.

Our son is doing well now since his surgery. He is already talking more and has improved his walking exponentially. The night time screaming has completely gone away. Now he just wakes up like every other kid when he wants to get out and play.

I can not begin to thank you and every person who helped us enough. I hope to one day meet you and introduce the beautiful boy who united so many strangers in such a beautiful show of love and generosity.

“You can steel your heart against any kind of trouble, any kind of horror, but the simple act of kindness from a complete stranger will unstitch you.” Chris Abani

With gratitude and love,
The Strong Family
