When breast cancer happened to 35-year-old, Blonnie, she decided to fight. When Gethrr happened upon Blonnie’s story, we decided to fight for her, too.
We can’t cure her cancer (although we wish we could), but we can use the power of the Gethrr community to help Blonnie and her family access the medical treatments necessary in the fight save her life.
We first heard about Blonnie’s story at a conference we were at and felt immediately compelled to help. Blonnie discovered her breast cancer with a biopsy done just the day after her 34th birthday. Upon diagnosis, her cancer was already Stage 4 and had metastasized, spreading to her liver. Today, despite her struggle, the ups and the downs, Blonnie dedicates herself to spreading awareness for breast cancer, and to living life to the fullest.
The conference sold t-shirts to raise money for Blonnie. Gethrr purchased every last one, and distributed them among the conference attendees. Gethrr’s donation will go directly to Blonnie and her family, to help ease the financial burden of her cancer treatment. In addition, Gethrr has helped to spread Blonnie’s inspiration, and her message towards breast cancer awareness.
Breast cancer in someone as young as Blonnie is not a “rare” as you may think. Each year, 70,000 men and women age 15 to 39 are diagnosed with cancer in the US. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in this age group. With our community’s support, Gethrr hopes to help eradicate breast cancer in Blonnie, and for all.
As Blonnie says, nothing is impossible.
