Visiting a country where you don’t speak the language is one thing, but imagine living somewhere where you couldn’t communicate at all. And on top of that, you face other economic and cultural challenges, making it nearly impossible to get around on your own.
One super awesome English teacher at a South Philadelphia community center is helping to alleviate these struggles for many folks. She teaches adult students from all over the world- Bhutan, Pakistan, Myanmar, Congo, and others. One of her initiatives throughout the summer is to help her students explore the city of Philadelphia in a safe and supportive way. She plans weekly field trips with them so they can learn about and enjoy the city that they call home. These field trips are low cost, only requiring transportation-related fees and lunch. Such a simple program with such a huge impact! Gethrr is proud to support Brae and her students on their adventures this summer!
